August 2006

Mizpah United Methodist Church in Walkerton, VA has a small congregation with a large caring heart.  Their donated funds purchased school supplies for local school children.  Enough school supplies to fill 34 back packs were assembled with items such as:

  • pencil boxes

  • paper

  • index cards

  • pencils

  • erasers

  • pens

  • highlighters

  • colored pencils

  • colored markers

  • scissors

  • notebooks

  • composition books

  • book covers

  • glue (sticks & bottles)

  • tissues & ziploc bags

  • sanitizer hand wash

  • etc.

After the back packs were delivered to the church by Pat Smith church member Benny Hardwick and Jim Smith delivered 16 backpacks to King and Queen County and 16 to King William County Social Services.  Social Services in both counties expressed their joy in being able to distribute these school items to children in their respective counties.
